Building fire – Odsey - South Cambs

At 9.35pm on Sunday crews were called to a fire on Station Road in Odsey. 

Crews from Gamlingay, Cambourne, Huntingdon, Cambridge and St Neots were joined by crews from Royston, Baldock, Stevenage and Hitchin in Hertfordshire and Kempston, Biggleswade and Sandy in Bedfordshire at the scene of the fire. 

Firefighters arrived to find a well-developed fire involving a hotel and restaurant building. Wearing breathing apparatus they extinguished the fire using hose reels and jets. 

One casualty was taken to hospital by ambulance, another sadly died at the scene. 

The crews returned to their stations by 4am. 

An investigation is underway with police colleagues to determine the cause of the fire.
